Rama Chellappa


Prof. Rama Chellappa is a Bloomberg Distinguished Professor in the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering (Whiting School of Engineering) and Biomedical Engineering (School of Medicine) with a secondary appointment in the Department of Computer Science at Johns Hopkins University. At JHU he is affiliated with the Center for Imaging Sciences, the Center for Language and Speech processing, the Institute for Assured Autonomy and the Mathematical Institute for data Science. His current researcher interests are computer vision, pattern recognition, machine intelligence and artificial intelligence. Chellappa has received many prestigious awards from the IEEE, University of Maryland, University of Southern California and the International Association of Pattern Recognition. He has been recognized as an Outstanding ECE by Purdue University and as a Distinguished Alumni by the Indian Institute of Science, India. He is a Fellow of AAAI, AAAS, ACM, AIMBE, IAPR, IEEE, NAI and OSA and holds eight patents. He has graduated 116 doctoral dissertations and 23 Maters theses at the University of Southern California, the University of Maryland and the Johns Hopkins University.
